In my digital paintings, I delve into the complex nature of mental health.  Using imagery of disembodied heads, arms, and hands lost in space, or submerged underwater, I explore the internal battles we face when we turn away from our own well-being.  These fragmented bodies represent the pieces of ourselves that we allow to drift into the depths, and become overwhelmed and disconnected.

The use of a bright and colourful palette in my work serves to underscore the duality inherent in human nature.  The vivid hues and playful tones create a dissonance with the serious, often dark subject matter of self-neglect. This contrast reflects the internal conflict between the façade we present to the world and the struggles that lie beneath.

I invite viewers to confront the uncomfortable truth about the ways we neglect ourselves;  masking our struggles with superficial brightness.  There are parts inside of each of us that we would rather not look at.  This work is an invitation to acknowledge and care for the fragments of ourselves that we too often leave untended.
